Name: unknown trio Type: Trio Year: 1880-1910 Set: No Mark: none - none History: This trio is done in a classic “Imari” palette and pattern style, which includes Rich cobalt blue, iron red and 24k gold gilding, stylized chrysanthemums, scrolling foliage and panel layouts divided into radial segments with heavy use of gold overlay and outlining. This style was famously produced by multiple English manufacturers, but this set most closely resembles the work of the following: Royal Crown Derby: Specifically, their “Old Imari” patterns (like 1128,2451, and variants), which were produced from the late 1800’s onward and are still in production. The intricate layout, bold enamelling, and detailed gilding are strong indicators. However, Royal Worcester, Coalport and even Davenport and Ridgway produced similar styles especially in the early to mid-19th century through the Edwardian era. Based on the style and shape of the cup (narrow foot, straight sides), the painting style and the richness of the gilding, this trio likely dates from the late 19th century to early 20th century, the lack of backstamp supports this dating as many earlier pieces were unsigned or bore only pattern numbers in gilt or enamel. This trio’s pattern id in the “Imari-style floral panel” family. Flaws: none
